Santorini -Vilchada/Vilchada port

Thoughts of Santorini most likely conjures images of Santorini’s famous sunsets and stunning vistas of colorful villages clinging proudly to the cliff edge with caldera views; a dreamy destination topping many bucket lists. Santorini is the largest island in the small Santorini archipelago and was devastated by a large volcanic eruption in the 16th C (BC) which shaped the iconic landscape we see today.

Vilchada Port is a small circular ‘fishermen’s haven’ in the town of Vlychada on the southern tip of Santorini, 13 km from the village of Fira. Vlychada has one of the many famous volcanic beaches with steep carved cliffs providing an impressive backdrop. The port master will do his best to accommodate and moor boats side by side. Warning: entrance can be tricky, depth is 2 – 3 m but this can shift and be as low as 1.6 m with tidal movements.
