Dodecanese

The Dodecanese archipelago is in the south-eastern Aegean Sea, made up of more than 150 islands and islets – only a handful of which are inhabited. The word ‘Dodecanese’ refers to the 12 jewels – the larger islands of the archipelago. Thanks to a tumultuous history and Rhodes being a strategically important location in regards to maritime trade, the Dodecanese have a distinctive vibe, a sort of ‘Europe meets the East’. Numerous cultures made their mark over the centuries – Ionians, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans and Italians which gives this region a unique flavor and charm. Beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes, ancient monuments, rich history, cuisine… the Dodecanese have it all.

Kos/Marina Kos

Kos is the 3rd largest island in the Dodecanese and boasts numerous sandy beaches against turquoise waters. But Kos island is more than just the sun and the sea, it was inhabited since Neolithic times (4th Century BC) and has been inhabited (and conquered) ever since, leaving ancient ruins, temples and various architectural styles to be discovered.

The Kos Marina is located just 2 km southeast of the old Kos harbor. Kos Marina was built in 2001 and has received praise and recognition as a standout marina in Europe and one of Greece’s best. It is recommended to book a berth in advance as the marina can be fully booked during the summer months. On approach, hail the marina on VHF Channel 77; entrance is straightforward.
