Mahon-Menorca/Puerto Mahon
Menorca (Minorca) is one of the smaller Balearic Islands; its name derives from its size ‘minor’. Smaller in size and stature than its famous neighbors, Menorca is a welcome change of pace; known for its white sandy beaches, brilliant turquoise waters and pine-lined coast. Like its neighbors, Menorca was a stage for numerous civilizations and cultures throughout the centuries, reflected in a mix of monuments and architecture; while the island itself has kept a distinctly rural feel with dry-stone walls marching through fields, rolling hills and quaint Spanish villages. Mahon is the capital of Menorca and, at 5 km deep, the Mahon harbor is more like a fjord and is one of the largest natural harbors in the world, offering protection from all weather.
